Using Arrow Textile Cleaning Spray Gun

Spray Gun Usage

Using Arrow Textile Cleaning Spray Gun is very easy and simple, provided you follow our usage instructions correctly. Arrow Textile Cleaning Spray Guns have been mainly designed for removing dirt, stains and spots from garment fabrics, primarily at the manufacturing stage. Cleaning solutions are filled in the jar of the spray gun, and then are sprayed out of the unit in high pressure and velocity onto the dirt or stained areas of the fabrics. Once the cleaning solvent hits the fabric with such pressure, it loosens the dirt or stain, and in no time the solvent evaporates, and the stain can just be brushed off. With the pressure adjustment knob provided behind the spray gun, you can turn up or down the pressure velocity depending on the fabric which requires the cleaning. This pressure adjustment option, coupled with the adjustable nozzle feature (in Arrow CM11A and Arrow CM16A spray guns), makes the scope of use of the spray guns very large. This spray gun is not only used in the garment industry for cleaning of stains, but it is also used in the laundries for stain cleaning, in the off-set printing industry for cleaning of ink rollers, in the screen printing industry, in the wig industry for cleaning of hair wig bases, for cleaning of flux in the electronic PCB industry, and also it is used in home gardening.

Different Models of Arrow Spray Guns

Our Arrow brand of Textile Cleaning Spray Guns are available in four different models as detailed below :-

  1. Arrow CM11 Spray Gun - This model of Spray Gun, Arrow CM11, is made of well polished strong aluminium housing for rough usage. This unit is fitted with a straight nozzle which only sprays the solvent in a straight-line, which makes it more ideal for thick and medium woven fabrics where the spray pressure required is slightly on the higher side. This is more suited for cleaning stains on areas where the variations in thickness of fabrics are less.
  2. Arrow CM11A Spray Gun – This model of spray gun, Arrow CM11A, is also made of well polished strong aluminium body, similar to the design of the Arrow CM11, but it is fitted with a adjustable nozzle. This adjustable nozzles gives the user a multiple adjustment option of the spray pressure and velocity emitting out of the spray gun itself. Users can have a much finer control on the spray output, making it suitable for all type of fabrics, including delicate and fine fabrics to thick and closely woven fabrics. The stepless movement for pressure adjustment on the nozzle allows the user to control the solvent outflow and area of spray.
  3. Arrow CM16 Spray Gun – This model of Arrow spray gun is made of Glass Filled Nylon Plastic body. It is a very light weight unit but highly resistant to impact and heat. This model, Arrow CM16, comes fitted with a straight nozzle, which only deliversstraight-line spray, similar to the Arrow CM11.
  4. Arrow CM16A Spray Gun – This model of spray gun, Arrow CM16A, is also made of glass filled nylon plastic body. Its design is similar to that of Arrow CM16, but is fitted with the Adjustable Nozzle. This adjustable nozzles gives the user a twin adjustment option of the spray pressure and velocity emitting out of the spray gun itself. The stepless movement for pressure adjustment on the nozzle allows the user to control the solvent outflow and area of spray.

Cleaning Solvent Suggestions

Our Arrow spray guns have been designed with best of materials available to give the you a long, trouble free and safe usage. It is very important to read the Pre-Usage Precautions, Usage Directions, Usage Precautions, and Spray Gun Maintenance, fully and carefully before using the spray guns. Our Textile Cleaning Spray Guns are primarily designed to use suitable cleaning solvents, as recommended by your fabric specilists. Please check the availability of the same in your area.

Pre Usage Precautions

  1. You must check the voltage rating marked on the unit and check if it is suitable for use with the voltage rating in your region before plugging in the equipment. For e.g., if the voltage rating marked on the unit reads as 220V AC, 50 / 60Hz then the spray gun is ONLY suitable in regions where the supplied voltage rating is of 220V AC.
  2. Please ensure that the spray gun is not used in a closed area, and ensure good ventilated in the area of its use.
  3. Do not use the spray gun in areas which are exposed to open flames or sparks.
  4. The unit must be used in a no smoking zone only.
  5. Do not tilt and store the spary gun when it is not in use. Keep the spray gun in a flat surface or hang on a spring tensioner when it is not used.

Usage Directions for Arrow Spray Guns

  1. Connect the spray gun into a suitable power socket. The spray gun has a 3 meter long electric wire.
  2. Unscrew the solvent jar fixed on the spray gun, and fill the required cleaning solvent in it. Fix the jar back tightly to prevent spillage from the spray gun. Ensure that before filling the solvent jar, there is no loose dirt / dust particles inside it, which can enter the spray gun and damage it.
  3. DO NOT DRY-RUN THE SPRAY GUN. USING THE SPRAY GUN WITHOUT A SOLVENT WILL CAUSE PERMANENT DAMAGE TO THE COMPONENTS IN IT.
  4. In the case of Arrow CM11 and Arrow CM16, ensure that you remove the protective plastic black cap from over the nozzle by pulling it out, before you start using the spary gun. If you use the unit without removing this protective cap, it will cause damage to the unit and may cause injury to the user as well. Fix this protective nozzle cap back on the nozzle, when the unit is not under use.
  5. For cleaning of fabrics, first sort them out into thick, closely woven, medium woven, light and loose woven types. Each type of thickness of fabric would require the spray pressure to be adjusted to suit the respective fabrics. For cleaning any other items, please select the required spray velocity.
  6. Turning the pressure-control knob located at the back of the unit in a clockwise direction, by around one turn will make it set to a initial low pressure setting. Important : Do not close it fully.
  7. Do not point the unit to the user or any other person or animal nearby. The high pressure spray coming out of the unit can seriously injure the person or animal.
  8. It is recommended that the spray pressure and area be checked by spraying in open air before actually spraying it on any item to identify the correct spray pressure setting required. First adjust the spray pressure as needed and then use it for cleaning the articles.
  9. Keep the unit in an upright position and point the nozzle towards the fabric or item to be cleaned, maintinaing a safe distance between the nozzle and the artilce, and then switch on the spray gun by pressing the trigger switch. The spray gun is switched off when you release the finger from the trigger switch.
  10. The unit normally takes a few seconds to build pressure and spray the solvent.
  11. The unit would vibrate while it is switched on, and this is normal. A certain amount of sound is also generated.
  12. Turn the pressure-control knob anticlockwise, if the unit does not spary out the solvent.
  13. While using the Arrow CM11A spray gun or the Arrow CM16A spray gun, the spray velocity and area of spread of spray can be further adjusted by turning the adjustment knob fitted on the nozzle. The adjustable nozzle is capable of delivering a fine mist spray, right upto a piercing straight-line spray, by making suitable stepless adjustments.
  14. Maintain a safe distance of between 5cms to 40cms between the nozzle and the fabric or article depending on the type and thickness of the fabric, nature of item, nature of spot or stain, and pressure adjusted.
  15. Clear out the dirt stain by spraying the solvent in a circular motion, moving from outside of the stain to the inside.
  16. Once the stain has been cleaned, stop the spray of solvent form the spray gun by releasing the trigger switch to turn off the unit.

Usage Precautions

  1. Use the unit in a well ventilated area with no open flames and no sparks of any type.
  2. Point the unit away from the user or any other person or animal. Failure to do so can cause serious injury to the person or animal.
  3. Improper pressure setting can damage the fabric or cause inefficient cleaning.
  4. Do not keep the spray gun in any tilted position, whether it is in use or not, especially when the jar is filled with the solvent to avoid spillage of the solvent.
  5. Do not drop the unit. This may cause the unit to be damaged. If the unit is dropped by accident, please inspect the unit thoroughly including the electrical connections for any loose contacts before further usage. If found to be damaged please do not use the same and have it repaired at the nearest service center.
  6. Ensure that you switch off the input power switch before removing the spray gun from the socket.
  7. It is strongly not advised to run the spray guncontinuously non-stop. A rest time for the unit is recommended at regular intervals to prolong the working life of the unit.
  8. Do not point the unit skywards while using it.
  9. Avoid using the unit for spraying only water, as this may cause some of the parts to wear out faster.
  10. Cleaning the unit with any flammable solvents is not recommended.
  11. Do not spray any solvent or material where the hazard is not known. Consult the solvent manufacturer's product literature for more usage information, before you use it on the spray gun.

Maintenance of Arrow Spray Gun

  1. Do not carry out any type of adjustment, service or maintenance on the spray gun when it is still plugged into the power socket.
  2. Keep the electric wire properly secured to avoid damage due to abrasion.
  3. Open the solvent jar and empty the solvent, at the end of the working day. Also spray out the remaining solvent from the unit.
  4. In model Arrow CM11 and Arrow CM11A, lightly oil the unit through the oil hole located at the top of the spray gun near the adjusting roller. Do not use more than 2 to 3 drops of oil. Even regular machine oil can be used.
  5. Fuse Replacement: Arrow spray guns are the only spray guns which are fitted with a replaceable glass fuse of size 5mm by 20mm, of 800mA rating. Should the fuse need to be replaced, you need to open the housing and lift out the fuse assembly. The rubber sleeve holding the fuse base and holder would need to be slide off, and the fuse holder cover then needs to be removed from the fuse holder itself. Inspect the fuse, and if it is blown then replace it with the spare fuse which is provided or with a new one. Fit the fuse holder, fitted with the new fuse, in the manner it was removed in. Do not remove the fuse assembly unit by pulling the wires as the wire leads will become loose.

Transportation and Storage

Each spray gun is packed in an individual inner carton box and held tight in the box using Thermocole molded supports to prevent the spray gun from being damaged during transit. We recommend that you keep the box and the thermocole supports safely, to enable the unit to be repacked should you need to transport it to a different place.

The unit can be stored for shorter periods in the open after usage. If it is required to be stored for longer periods without usage, then it is recommended to either repack the unit in the original packing or pack it in a protective air tight plastic cover. It is important to ensure that the solvent jar has been totally emptied and the remaining solvent in the gun has been sprayed out before storage.
